New scientific collaboration agreement between SESAME and SOLEIL

On 19th September 2014, a new scientific collaboration agreement was signed between SOLEIL and the international research center SESAME located in Allan (Jordan).

The signature ceremony gathered Jean Daillant (Director General of SOLEIL) and Khaled Toukan (Director General of SESAME) and focused on the conception and building of a High power RF Solid State Amplifier.

SOLEIL has always been supporting the SESAME project, a 3rd generation synchrotron light source under construction in the Middle East.

The amplifier of 80kW at 500MHz – real prototype designed for this application - should be delivered within 14 months. It will be the RF power source of an accelerating cavity in the storage ring of the future synchrotron. Engineers and technicians from SESAME will be present during the assembly and tests of the device at SOLEIL. Through this scientific collaboration, SESAME will access the state of the art of synchrotron technology.
