Nano-magnets are of particular interest for researchers in the field of nanomedicine since they are easily tunable through a magnetic field. Iron oxide, which is not expensive and easy to synthesize, is a really attracting magnet. Unfortunately, it loses its efficiency when in form of nanoparticles: its magnet property only appears at temperatures far below ambient temperature. By coordinating cobalt complexes on the nanoparticles surface, several teams successfully increase the efficient temperature of those nanoparticles. The results have been published in Nature Communications.
